Ruderal vegetation
High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines ruderal vegetation as: ‘Vegetation that is able to grow despite poor soil quality or limited soil cover. It is often the first to colonise previously disturbed land.’
